Focus on Juniors!

Juniors are special to the Wild, Wild West consignors!! This is a great opportunity for AJSA members to be able to purchase heifers, show them and bring them back the next year to sell in the Wild, Wild West sale. Wild, Wild West consignors will offer to AJSA members…

1- a $250 Wild, Wild West credit to any AJSA member finishing in the top 20 heifers at the 2007 AJSA Classic  with a Wild, Wild West heifer.

2- an AJSA member purchasing an open heifer  in the 2007 Wild, Wild West sale the opportunity to sell their purchase as a bred heifer in the 2008 Wild, Wild West Sale.

Altenburg Super Baldy Ranch is located in northern Colorado and has been operating there for the past 30+ years. Altenburg’s emphasis is producing commercially oriented bulls for western bull customers. We utilize both Simmental and Angus genetics …. Red and Black. Simmental is utilized for adding growth and yield. Angus is used for calving ease and to add carcass quality. Both breeds have exceptional maternal traits, making the SimAngus females the most sought after cross in the industry. The resulting SimAngus – “Super Baldy” bulls are utilized by producers wanting just a little continental blood or to stabilize a crossbreeding program. We sell 60+ bulls each year and have our annual Super Baldy Bull sale planned for the 17th of March in 2007. Also selling will be a group of SimAngus Super Baldy open heifers, ready to breed. Our cattle are summered at 6 – 7000 feet in “short grass” country requiring 20 acres per cow in the summer. Cows are “trailed” the 12 miles to and from the ranch each year. Cows are wintered on hay stubble, and corn stalks and calved outside. We try to run them as our commercial customers do. Both AI and embryo transfer are utilized to make improvements in genetic progress.

We have been a part of the Wild Wild West Sale since its beginning. This group of western cattlemen has enjoyed bringing sound, useful cattle that will work in range conditions when you take them home. We say they are “bred to be cows”. Many will work for show heifers, and youth projects, but ultimately, they will become productive cows.

And finally, we value the National Western Stock  how and the Wild Wild West Sale as a time when we reunite with family and friends. We value the fact our kids come back each year to help with and participate in the sale. And we’d like to recognize Dallas Schleining who again is helping us get things done this year. Thanks to all for their help and assistance. We look forward to seeing you at the sale.
Bridle Bit Simmentals,
Erroll and Gayle Cook & family, ASA # 4086, began their Simmental journey in 1969 and remain dedicated to producing Simmental and Simmental X Angus cattle that perform well and look good while doing so. Bridle Bit Simmentals have had their genetics spread throughout the United States and are proud of their consignments to this Wild Wild West Simmental Sale.

Bridle Bit’s goals are simple and have served them well in the past. Selection criteria are to avoid extremes, place emphasis on calving ease trait, maintain complete individual data on each animal, use embryo transfer to preserve genetics from their top producing females, utilize the ASA’s planned mating in BBS AI program and gather carcass data on progeny, Replacement heifers and prospective breeding bulls are selected based on performance data, visual appraisal and disposition. Bulls are sold exclusively by private treaty, relying heavily on word of mouth and reputation for promotion. Progeny not selected for breeding are placed in the BBS feedlot and sold on the grid to US Premium Beef. BBS finished cattle consistently produce carcass data that score above plant average while generating premium carcass value for the Cooks. Recently, BBS was named the 2006 Colorado Seedstock Producer of the Year by the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, a very prestigious and cherished honor. Bridle Bit Simmentals are raised in the short grass country in southeast Colorado. Erroll & Gayle Cook along with their sons, Chad (wife Kristi), Brent (wife Heather), Brad and grandsons, Christopher (14), Darin (10), Austin (5) and granddaughters, Montana (8) and Dakota (5) invite you to visit them if you are ever in the Walsh, CO area.

The Cook family believes you will find their Wild Wild West sale consignments worthy of your time and consideration. Additional Bridle Bit Simmentals and family history can be found on Breeding Cattle Page by clicking here.

The “Bridle Bit Gang”

Campbell Simmental is family owned by Robert, Christy and Katie Campbell. Our elder son Clay and his wife Jennifer and grandchildren Kelly, Clay and Shawn, have come back to the ranch where Clay is heavily involved with our trucking business, while Jennifer and the kids help out with the cattle every chance they get. We have focused on our customer’s needs of calving ease, fertility, and carcass quality. We have centered our program on our donor CCR Madison 203M.

Madison is our feature cow family and she has two tremendous daughters in the sale this year. We have without a doubt the best set of heifer’s we have ever offered in this sale. Our ranch is located in the south west part of Colorado. This area has a tough environment- the cattle have to be easy keepers and very fertile with good structure to thrive in south west Colorado. Campbell Simmentals was nominated and selected the 2006 Colorado Simmental Association Breeder of the year.

Thanks to those who have attended or purchased from previous Wild Wild West Sales. We also would like to extend our thanks to our good friends and partners, Bruce, Donna, and daughter Katie German for all their help with making these years’ sale heifers even better. We look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s sale.
Robert, Christy and Katie Campbell

Noble Cattle Company... Once again we are proud to be offering our best. Small but mighty would best sum up our lots this year. When we started our program our goal was to offer consistent quality even if it meant letting some of the great ones sell. We feel like the two lots offered are just that, GREAT ONES!!!! As time goes by things change, our business continues to grow and our lives keep getting busier. The pace of our life is requiring that we take a step back and re evaluate our goals.

With mixed emotions we have decided that this is most likely our last Wild West offering. We would like to sincerely thank our past buyers and we look for great things to come from all of the individuals we have sold.
Jennifer, Adam, Laramie and Terye Paige Noble
