Tradition of Excellence Sale |

Welcome! This year our sale will be smaller than usual due to a higher percent of bull calves last spring. I think you will find the quality you expect in our sale offering. It was a tough decision for me to pick out females to offer. I can think of a reason to keep everyone of them, but the farm isn’t large enough to keep them all. That is excellent news for you! We have tried to be on the forefront of health issues with our cattle. Every calf spring and fall was ear notched and tested for persistently infected BVD. Our report card was perfect. This past year we sold only four heifer calves. At the National Western Foundation Female Sale we sold two daughters of ISU Imaging Q9111, now owned by Semex, that were well received and exceeded my expectations. At the Iowa Beef Expo we topped the open heifer division with our Power Surge Simmental heifer. I can’t say enough about how good our Angus herd sire, Steele Traveler L17, does for us and we will share a few of his genetics. We sold only one of his daughters at the Iowa Beef Expo and she was near the top in the show and sale. This year we are adding embryo lots sired by 3C Macho and LMS Perfect Dream out of two of our Angus donor cows. The foundation Simmental market is continuing to stay strong, so we are willing to share our newest breeding project. The students, our labor force, are working very hard to provide you with a quality event. They do every job and make sure every detail is covered. Make sure you get to know them and ask them questions at the sale. I think you will be as impressed as I have been. See you at the sale and cheer for the Cyclones, re-member they are young!
